She obtained a Bachelor Degree in Law and Political Sciences from Universidad Santa Maria La Antigua and an LL.M. in Admiralty from Tulane University, Lou.  A member of the Panama Bar Association and the New York State Bar, Panama Maritime Law Association (Former President), Maritime Law Association of the United States, L2B Aviation Group; Association of International Lawyers of Panama (Board Member), and the International Aviation Womens Association (IAWA); The Vance Center Women in the Profession Program (WIP-Panama) - mentor. 

Recently, appointed Director of the Superintendency of Banks of Panama. She held the position of President and Director of Assets Trust & Corporate Services S.A., a trust company regulated by the Superintendency of Banks of Panama.

Additionally, she is a member of the Board of Directors of the International Lawyers Association of Panama, a guild of law firms in the Republic of Panama that provide corporate and financial services, which main objective is to participate in the drafting of laws that preserve the competitiveness of the country.


In the field of Aviation Law, María de Lourdes advises financial institutions, owners and aircraft lessors in acquisition, financing, registration, regulatory, commercial leasing issues of private and commercial aircrafts. She is the author of the article "Aircraft Liens and Detention Rights" for the Panama section of publishing house Sweet and Maxwell; and of “Getting the Deal Through – Aviation Finance & Leasing since 2014, Panama Chapter” published by Law Business Research.

Author of the Panama chapters  on several Corporate and Financial Law matters for international publications such as The “Maritime Law Handbook” and the “Judicial Sales of Vessels and Priority of Claims in Panama”, Kluwer Law International, the "Aircraft Liens and Detention Rights", Sweet and Maxwell; "Aviation Finance & Leasing" since 2014, Law Business Research; and the Pillsbury World Aircraft Repossession Index – Panama.
