Short stay visa as a remote worker
Panama has a new immigration category "Short Stay Visa as a Remote Worker". This new visa has the objective of promoting Panama as a destination for non-resident foreigners, who will be able to operate as remote workers.
Any foreigner who meets the following conditions can apply for this visa:
Have an employment contract from a foreign transnational company, that is, an autonomous worker who is teleworking or telecommuting.
The functions exercised must have effects abroad.
Proof that income comes from a foreign source.
Receive an annual income of not less than US$36,000.00 or its equivalent in foreign currency.
This visa will be valid for nine (9) months, and may be extended once for the same period and grants the foreigner the right to work remotely within Panama. Additionally, this visa does not require procedures before other institutions, nor a work permit.
