Panama has been re-elected as a Category A member of the IMO Council for the 2026–2027 term, reaffirming its role as a leading contributor to the global maritime industry. This decision reflects the international community’s confidence in Panama’s contribution to global trade and its commitment to safety and sustainability in maritime transport.
With over 8,600 vessels registered and a port network connected to more than 140 routes, Panama remains a key hub for international cargo movement. This renewed mandate supports efforts to strengthen competitiveness and innovation within the maritime sector.
