We are pleased to share that Panama has been officially removed from the European Commission’s list of high-risk jurisdictions in the areas of anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing. The decision recognises Panama as a compliant country, having addressed the criteria established by both the European Union and the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), and having demonstrated sustained technical progress, as confirmed by evaluations carried out by specialised international bodies.
This removal reduces the enhanced due diligence measures previously applied by European financial institutions, improves Panama’s country risk perception, and facilitates access to investment, corporate operations, and business relations with European market participants.
At Patton, Moreno & Asvat, we remain attentive to regulatory developments that may affect our clients’ operations and are available to provide guidance on how this change may benefit your international structures and relationships.
