Public Procurement Long-Term Powerand Energy

Empresa de Transmisión Eléctrica S.A. (ETESA) has published the tender documents for the bidding of long-term Firm Power and Energy, aimed at renewable generation plants.

According to ETESA:

"This is the first long-term tender, exclusively for renewable energies to be held in Panama in the last 9 years, and one of the first in the Central American region that incorporates battery storage systems, to give more flexibility to the National Electric System.

This tender guarantees, in the long term (20 years), the supply of electricity to users served by the electricity distribution companies, through new or existing renewable power plants.

Through this initiative, Panama is on the way to stabilize the tariff with a downward trend for the final consumer and takes a big step towards less dependence on fossil fuels for power generation, in addition to implementing its energy transition agenda, which represents a decisive step for our country to make effective its global commitment to climate change from the energy sector".

The tender documents can be acquired at ETESA's administrative offices, as a requirement for the presentation of proposals and attention to consultations.

A preliminary clarification meeting will be held on April 4, 2024 to answer queries from interested parties, and bids will be received on June 27, 2024.
